July's virtual presentation is in partnership with the New York Consortium Evaluators (NYCE), a AEA regional affiliate. This presentation was first a part of the 2019 AEA Conference.
Evaluators, as the primary managers of client data systems within organizations, are often called upon to take the lead in the process of adopting new data systems. This thrusts us as “accidental techies” into the world of database technology and data integration apps without a roadmap. Increasing data expectations on organizations – to report to funders, show impact, and learn from our data – enhance the need for a robust client management and outcomes tracking system to support performance management and evaluation.
In this demonstration session, we will share our experiences and lessons learned in serving as or working with internal evaluators on five key phases of a database project: assess opportunity; scope the project and choose a platform/vendor; design and plan; build and implement; and support. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and will walk away with a practical resource guide highlighting best practices.
Presenters:
Laura Beals, Director, Department of Evaluation and Learning-Jewish Family & Children's Service, GBEN Advisory Board Member
